36 HOURS IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

I took a week-long trip with friends to Seattle, Washington and Banff, Alberta. Originally, the plan was to go to Banff, Alberta but because of ticket prices it was more cost effective to go to Seattle then Banff. Here’s my quick 3-2-1 guide to exploring Seattle in 36 hours or less. I arrived in Seattle mid-day on a Tuesday and my flight to Banff was scheduled for Thursday morning.

3 THINGS TO DO

Pike’s Place Market is a public Market overlooking Elliot Bay waterfront. There’s fresh produce, crafts, and over 200 shops in the area. We explored the Seattle gum wall and the original Starbucks in this area. If you go at the right time, you may be able to catch the flying fish, a popular thing at the market.

After exploring Pike’s Place, we went on the Seattle Ferris Wheel on Pier 57. If you want a great view of the city and aren’t afraid of heights I highly recommend the ferris wheel.

We spent the entire day Wednesday at the iconic Mount Rainier National Park. Mount Rainier National Park is a 2 hour drive from Seattle. I was extremely impressed with Mount Rainier National Park. We did the Spray Park Trail (6.9 miles). There are stunning gems along the way and the further you hike, the better the views get.

2 PLACES TO EAT

Before our hike, we grabbed a cup of coffee from the original Starbucks at Pike’s Place. Get there super early if you want to avoid long lines. We ate a full-filling breakfast at Bacco Cafe before hitting the road. Check out Pie Bar Ballard if you are in the mood for some sweet and savory pies or desert.

1 PLACE TO STAY

This was an airbnb kind of trip. We stayed close to the market which made it easier to get around the city.

They don’t call it the Evergreen State for no reason. There is greenery throughout the entire state all year round. If you are looking for a quick trip, a weekend getaway or a stop on your way to Canada, Seattle is the place to be.
